Rhinoseptoplasty

Rhinoplasty is the procedure that corrects alterations in the shape of the nose. If there is also an alteration in the function of the nose responsible for a difficulty in breathing, an intervention to restore correct nasal breathing (septoplasty) is combined with the cosmetic operation of rhinoplasty. It is possible to perform rhinoplasty from the moment the nose has completed its growth, that is to say around 16 – 18 years. The intervention can be carried out at any time of the year. The operation is performed under general anesthesia.

The operation takes place via the endosenale, which means that the incisions are made inside the nose and therefore there are no visible marks on the skin of the nose or face. The bone and cartilage structures are modified, the “hump” is removed and the tip is thinned and softened in balance with the rest of the face. The procedure lasts about 1 hour, depending on the defects to be corrected. During surgery, a piece of chalk is applied to the nostrils of the pads. The patient will be able to resume normal daily and work activities after 1 week, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight for at least 15 days.

It is very important to avoid trauma in the first few weeks after surgery, for intense sports are to be avoided for the first month.
